Pioneer introduces new multimedia receiver offering “unparalleled connectivity”

The new DMH-ZF8550BT multimedia receiver features wireless smartphone connectivity, enhanced audio capabilities and more.

In-dash display audio products is a market segment worth paying close attention to, with products like Pioneer’s new DMH-ZF8550BT audio/video receiver offering a range of features for drivers.

The in-dash receiver has a nine-inch large screen display and is compatible with connectivity services like Bluetooth, WebLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The DMH-ZF8550BT can be installed in a set of different ways, either in-dash, mounted or as a floating type. The device’s expansive touchscreen means it can offer split-screen mode, with users able to control different applications at the same time, without interfering with connectivity to Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

Furthermore, users can customise the user interface with either light or dark mode: depending on the time of day or preference of the driver. In terms of audio features, the DMH-ZF8550BT receiver has a custom high-performance 48-bit dual-core digital signal processor, which offers “advanced sound quality tuning and adjustability.”

There are other audio features like Time Alignment and Network Mode, which work to tailor the vehicle’s speakers to the driver’s preference, while an in-built 13-band graphic equaliser fine tunes the audio output.

There is an extensive list of additional features for the receiver, including rear camera input to help with parking, apparently compatible with many aftermarket universal rear-view cameras and original equipment rear-view cameras. There is a rear USB 2.0 port for smartphone connectivity, a rear audiovisual input, rear seat entertainment monitor video output and an additional input where users can add a second camera.
