EA and Lucasfilm Games to develop new “Star Wars” titles with Respawn Entertainment
Electronic Arts and Lucasfilm Games have announced a new partnership to develop three new Star Wars titles. The companies will work with Respawn Entertainment on the new titles, including the next instalment of the popular Star Wars Jedi franchise, a strategy-based title and a first person shooter.
Stig Asmussen, game director of Respawn Entertainment, will lead the development of the next Star Wars Jedi title. Meanwhile, the development of an upcoming first person shooter game will be led by game director Peter Hirschmann.
A new studio has been established to develop an upcoming strategy-based title, the project being led by Greg Foertsch. The game will be the product of a production collaboration between Respawn Entertainment and Bit Reactor. Respawn is to produce the strategy game, while Bit Reactor will lead the development.
“We are excited to continue working with the superbly talented teams at Respawn”, said Douglas Reilly, VP, Lucasfilm Games. “They have demonstrated excellence in telling epic Star Wars stories along with best-in-class gameplay across different genres and we are looking forward to bringing more amazing experiences to the galaxy far, far away”.
Vince Zampella, founder of Respawn Entertainment, will lead this new partnership between EA and Lucasfilm. “We are huge fans of Star Wars and we are thrilled to work with Lucasfilm Games on new titles that we have wanted to make for years”, said Zampella.
