TCL’s latest tablets, NXTPAPER 11 and TAB 11, feature its NXTPAPER 2.0 tech to deliver brighter display without damaging the eyes

Affordable TV, smartphone and tablet maker, TCL, presented its newest devices at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Apart from its latest “5G for everyone” TCL 40 smartphone series soon available in the US, the company unveiled its new tablets, the NXTPAPER 11 and the TAB 11, which feature the firm’s colour paper-like screen tech, NXTPAPER 2.0.

Combining brightness and eye care 

TCL launched its NXTPAPER technology in 2021, claiming that this new type of display would offer better eye protection for users because of its reduced flicker and blue light output. At the time, the company called the new tech a “combination of screen and paper” and said it received an eye protection certification.

Since then, the tablet maker has continued to perfect NXTPAPER. According to the company, the latest iteration of the tech, NXTPAPER 2.0, boasts even brighter, more striking displays, while still continuing to protect eye health.  “This brightness is achieved, exceeding TÜV levels of blue light reduction, all while maintaining life-like colour and deep contrast in the images on its displays,” the firm said in a release.

Featured on new NXTPAPER tablets, NXTPAPER 2.0 delivers 150% more brightness compared with the original technology, which means up to 500 nits. Plus, TCL NXTPAPER 2.0 exceeds TÜV certified levels of blue light reduction thanks to hardware level filtering, protecting eye health without screen yellowing. Complementing this, TCL NXTPAPER 2.0’s automatic light sensor now adjusts colour temperature based on the environment, delivering an even more comfortable viewing and reading experience.

The upgrade also makes these devices easier to use in bright light, such as direct sunshine outdoors, thanks to their anti-glare display technology that features multi-layer screen protection – diffusing light rather than altering it.

NTXPAPER 11 and TAB 11

The first new tablet featuring the upgraded NXTPAPER 2.0 tech is the NXTPAPER 11 tablet, which offers an 11-inch 2K display screen with an AI visual boost to make colours bolder and more lifelike.

For taking notes or drawing, the nano-chemical material display coating and low latency T-pen stylus with 4096-level pressure sensitivity offers a realistic and smooth feel like paper and pen, the company says. The device’s reading mode mimics the grayscale effect of a paper book while its 8MP front wide-angle camera enables enhanced video calling.

Moreover, the NXTPAPER 11 comes with a powerful 8000 mAh battery and reverse charging so that users will never run out of juice.

The second new model is the TAB 11, a tablet the firm is calling “an entertainment powerhouse,” thanks to its 11-inch 2K NXTVISION display and quad speakers. According to TCL, the TAB 11 tablet delivers a theatre-like experience with sharper detail and richer colour all with an 85% screen-to-body ratio.

Powered by 4GB RAM and supported by up to 128GB storage, the TAB 11 lets users draw or write using its low-latency T-pen stylus with 4,096 sensitivity and also boasts a 8000 mAh battery with reverse charge to other devices. In addition, the TAB 11 is light and streamlined, weighing just 462g, its slim 6.9mm design fits easily into any bag.
