TCL’s Mini LED technology sets new standards for TV display quality

TCL, a leading global TV brand, has revealed its latest Mini LED 4K C845 TVs, which deliver superior display performance and image quality

TCL has recently launched its latest Mini LED 4K C845 TVs in several sizes, raising the bar for TV image quality through technological innovation.

The C845 features 1,792 LEDs, resulting in a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits without overheating. The TCL high-voltage Mini LED chip is designed to emit light in 3 series PN junctions, with the control voltage carefully adjusted so that the current passing through the LED chip falls within the optimal luminous efficiency range. As a result, the temperature can always be controlled, and the TV does not overheat when the LEDs are operating at full power and the TV is at its maximum brightness at the same time.

The C845 adopts “one zone with two LEDs” to achieve more precise lighting control, with nearly 900 zones. Even in extremely dark or overexposed scenes, bright and dark areas are better defined without irritating halo effects, making the visual experience much more comfortable. In addition, excellent lighting performance is also attributed to the advanced lens design, which allows for more uniform images in the same light control area and more reliable performance when the module and TV reach their thinnest thickness.

Thanks to the “glue dispensing process,” which applies a polymer material directly onto the LED to form a single free-form refraction surface, the C845 has an ultra-thin thickness of just 77 mm, making for an elegant and aesthetically appealing design.

Using a dual 12-bit control algorithm, the LED can emit 12 bits of light and has AD and PWM dimming to achieve close linear light control accuracy and more precise colour presentation. Under the high-bias dual-mode driver, the LED current can be maintained within the high luminous efficiency range to achieve energy savings and spectral stability. At the same time, the PWM service cycle works in the high-frequency space, which can reduce the flicker effect on human eyes for better vision protection.

Mini LED technology stands out for its particularly high brightness, high contrast, and wide colour gamut, resulting in a more dynamic and immersive viewing experience according to the manufacturer.

TCL’s latest generation of Mini LED technology is produced at a relatively affordable cost, making optimised image performance more accessible to consumers, TCL says. The technology, which was presented at IFA last year, combines high-efficiency Mini LED chips and unique refractive surface glue dispensing technology, allowing for more precise light control, a more uniform surface light source, better halo control, and higher luminous efficiency, using more durable materials and manufacturing processes, according to the manufacturer.
