Opsys Tech teams with auto supplier Hasco to supply LiDAR systems

Opsys Tech has struck a deal to supply LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) systems to global auto supplier Hasco, boosting its market share in this technology.

Opsys Tech is an Israeli-based company that was founded in 2016 and has quickly built a reputation for developing LiDAR units. LiDAR is a method of measuring distance by using a laser to target an object. The technology is also used to create high-resolution maps, as well as control and navigate autonomous cars.

Opsys Tech announced in early February that it will supply its LiDAR systems to Hasco, a leading supplier of auto parts across the globe. It is reported that the LiDAR technology could come to production vehicles by 2024 or 2025. The announcement is significant as it follows the expansion of Opsys Tech to market segments in Asia, as well as generally boosting its market share of LiDAR technology.

“This agreement with a world leading Tier 1 automotive supplier Hasco enables Opsys to enter the Asian automotive LiDAR systems market segment”, noted Chairman Eitan Gertel in a statement. “It represents a strong and growing recognition that Opsys Tech […] LiDAR technology and its superior performance to that of competitive systems, which will increase the safety of vehicles on the road while enabling the evolution of autonomous functionality at all levels…”.
