Samsung introduces new Galaxy smartphones for 2022 with “most intelligent camera yet”

The just-announced Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+ will feature pro-grade AI cameras, notably with dynamic day and night settings.

On February 10, Samsung introduced two new flagship devices, the Galaxy S22 and S22+. The devices both feature dynamic, pro-grade AI cameras, which Samsung calls its “most intelligent camera yet”.

The Galaxy S22 series camera supports “nightography” features, with a sensor that is 23% larger than the S21 series. Adaptive Pixel technology allows the camera to let in more light, define details and enhance colours, regardless of whether the user is in a light or dark location. The phones come with a 50MP main camera, 10MP tele-lens and 12MP ultra-wide lens, which aims to guarantee professional quality when taking pictures.

For filming videos, there is an Auto Framing feature, which can detect and follow up to ten people, adjusting the focus to capture the crowd. VDIS technology helps decrease noise and vibrations, giving users a smoother and sharper recording despite camera movement.

“Our smartphone cameras have transformed the way we create, share and communicate”, said TM Roh, President and Head of Samsung Electronics’ Mobile eXperience Business. “That’s why we focused on designing our latest S series devices with groundbreaking camera capabilities that work day and night, powered by our best mobile performance yet”.
