Back in business

By David Ruetz, Senior Vice President, IFA 2022

Hello and welcome to the second day of IFA 2022. I was delighted to walk around the trade show floor yesterday and see so many faces from the world’s top consumer electronics and home appliances brands and retailers. From what I could see, the industry is taking full advantage of being back at IFA 2022 in person and business is booming.

I am looking forward to attending today’s keynote speeches, which will be starting at 10:30am with the president of Huawei Consumer Business Group William Tian, who will be announcing a number of exciting new products across multiple categories including smartphone, smart office, and health and fitness. Then at 2pm, the Qualcomm Marketing Panel will be discussing how digital transformations are changing the way we experience the world, both in physical and digital spaces. Last but not least, Gwenaelle Avice-Huet, chief strategy & sustainability officer at Schneider Electric will be taking the stage at 5pm to present how smart home technologies and energy savings can help to reduce CO2 emissions.

Over at IFA NEXT in Hall 20 – the innovation engine – there will be many more expert presentations with background information and panel discussions taking place throughout the day. The first session, starting at 10:30am, will see Nuria Medrano, head of marketing at 4.screen speak about “Driver interactions create unparalleled value in mobility and Apple, Amazon&Google want their share”. There will also be plenty more exciting content on show as well as digital technologies that are becoming increasingly suitable for everyday use thanks to AI.

In the afternoon, startups will become the main focus of IFA NEXT from 2pm onwards, with the Startup Stories SPYCE5 & DeinDing session and Startup Pitches: Smart LivingStartup Pitches: Smart Living. Be sure to stick around because the winner of the day will be announced everyday at 5:10pm.

Remember that it’s not “all work no play”. Autograph sessions with TV stars, top athletes and soccer players, live cooking and talk shows, as well as games and esports events, plus shows for children and adults will be taking place all over the show ground.

Finally, there is no better way to explore the latest innovations and technologies on the market than simply walking through the different areas of our exhibition halls, including Household Appliances, Home & Entertainment, Audio, Communication, Imaging, IFA NEXT, Fitness & Digital Health, Computing & Gaming and of course Global Markets. And remember that if you miss any of our hard-hitting content, there is no need to worry. It will be available a day later on our new virtual B2B platform IFA Virtual as videos on demand.
