Apple TV app now included in Philips Android TVs

Since this northern summer, customers can enjoy Apple TV+ and Apple TV channels on Philips Android TVs.

TP Vision has announced that the Apple TV app, including Apple TV+, is now available on Philips Android TVs throughout Europe, APMEA and LATAM consumers with a compatible Philips Android TV will have full and easy access to Apple TV+, Apple TV channels, and more directly via their Smart TV homepage.

The Apple TV app features Apple TV+, Apple’s video subscription service offering original shows, movies and documentaries. Subscribers can enjoy Apple Originals, including series like “Ted Lasso,” “The Morning Show,” “For All Mankind,” and “Servant,” as well as movies like “Greyhound,” “Palmer” and “Wolfwalkers.” The Apple TV app is available in over 100 countries.

Also on the Apple TV app, customers can enjoy Apple TV channels, such as STARZPLAY, Acorn TV, and Noggin, and watch online and offline, ad-free and on demand, directly on the Apple TV app. Through Family Sharing, up to six family members can share subscriptions to Apple TV channels using their personal Apple ID and password. Customers can also enjoy personalised and curated recommendations and access their library of movie and TV show purchases from Apple.

Owners of a newly bought, 2021 model year Philips Android TVs will find the Apple TV app pre-installed on their Smart TV home screen. Consumers with an older Philips Android TV (running on Android TV 8 or later) can add the Apple TV app to their TV’s favourites list via the Google Play app store. The Apple TV app can also be found in the Philips Collection app.

All of the Philips Android TV line-up include both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos compatibility.

APPLE TV UNDER SPOTLIGHT AT EMMYS

In the recent unveiling of the juried award winners for the Primetime Emmy Awards, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced that Apple TV+ has won two Primetime Emmy Awards ahead of the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony, which is set to take place on Sunday, September 19:

  • “Calls” — won for Outstanding Motion Design
  • “For All Mankind: Time Capsule” — won for Outstanding Innovation in Interactive Media

The winners of the juried categories are voted on by a panel of professionals in each of the peer groups, and announced before the winners of the Creative Arts Emmys and Primetime Emmys are revealed next month.

Last month, Apple landed 35 Emmy Award nominations, including a historic 20 nominations for “Ted Lasso,” which broke records by becoming the most nominated comedy series this year, and the most nominated freshman comedy series ever.

Apple’s global comedy phenomenon “Ted Lasso” dominated across major categories with 20 nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series; Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Jason Sudeikis; two nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Hannah Waddingham and Juno Temple; four nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Brendan Hunt, Brett Goldstein, Jeremy Swift and Nick Mohammed; three nominations for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series; two nominations for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series; and two nominations for Outstanding Single-Picture Editing in a Comedy Series.

Apple also earned nominations across 10 total programs for this year’s Emmy Awards, including “Mythic Quest,” “Central Park,” “Servant,” “Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry,” “Boys State,” “Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special,” “Bruce Springsteen’s Letter To You,” “The Year Earth Changed” and “Carpool Karaoke: The Series.”
